Pimlico Parent Association
We are aiming to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities. We want to realise this through encouraging close interaction between parents, pupils and teaching staff.
The Pimlico Parent Association is an opportunity for parents to volunteer and support activities within the Academy. Any parent can volunteer to be part of the PPA. The type of activities include supporting school trips; helping with coffee mornings or community events; helping with sports day; running a stall at parents' evenings/at the car boot sale; assisting with the Academy Awards, concerts or the school musical.
So far this academic year, the PPA has organised a winter fayre to support the Winter Concert. The PPA has also been supporting Pimlico Academy in improving student literacy. Members have acted as reading mentors, and have completed an art project related to literature.
Parents also have the opportunity to discuss their views at the regular meetings, and give valuable feedback to the Academy. This has resulted in a number of developments, including to the uniform policy and to the ways in which Academy news is communicated to parents. The Parent Portal also gives parents access to their child's progress data and information about their home learning. This way parents can work alongside the Academy to support their child.
