Pimlico Academy is now an Erasmus School
In September 2017, the Pimlico Academy Modern Foreign Languages department started a partnership with a school based in Santa Cruz, Tenerife, and Canaries Islands, Spain. Students were paired and a pen pal exchange began.
In March the Modern Foreign Languages department bid for an ERASMUS grant. ERASMUS offers opportunities for UK participants to study abroad. It helps pupils develop their confidence and gain valuable international experience, broaden students’ horizons and experience new cultures.
We are pleased to announce that the MFL bid was successful and our partnership with the school can now develop beyond the pen pal exchange.
The project focusses on students studying how local heritage can impact on economic activity for young people and how we can improve it.
We are also excited that our students who are studying Spanish will be immersed into the Spanish culture and will have many opportunities to communicate in the target language.
In a nutshell, the project is fully funded by the European Union through its cultural arm in the UK i.e., the British Council.
The paired students in both schools will have the opportunity to travel to Spain and the UK and work on improving work experience opportunities for students in the future.
