The Raising Aspirations Programme in Pimlico Academy aims to develop aspirations and goals at an early stage in a student’s school career, translating these into decisions that will help them aim high and achieve their full potential, both now and in the future.
A variety of inspirational speakers are invited into the school to talk to different groups of students throughout the academic year. Guests are invited to share with the students about their occupation, experiences and inspirations. So far over 80 speakers have been welcomed into Pimlico Academy during this academic year. Our guests come from a wide range of sectors including entrepreneurs, investment bankers, barristers, politicians, journalists, historians, actors, doctors and many, many more. Among the more famous speakers have been Gary Lineker, George Alagiah, Anya Hindmarch, Thomasina Miers and John Bird.
In addition to talks, the programme also lays particular emphasis on the benefits of attending university. A number of trips for year 9 students upwards have been arranged to a variety of institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and variety of other London-based universities.
